The NACC Handbook under Section 2 General Regulations, and Section 2.5 Registration of Dog Teams, states that a dog must be registered with the North American Canicross Title Program in order for miles to count in the program. We consider our LIFETIME ACHIEVED MILES Title to be the virtual part of our program. Like any virtual race you would sign up for, miles start counting the day of registration. After registration you may enter your miles as you go or enter them all at each milestone!
Our LIFETIME ACHIEVED MILES part of the program does NOT require in-person races. Miles include all training and distances that are tracked in a canicross setting as defined in Section 2.3 of the handbook. Miles must be on trail or NON-PAVED setting.
North American Canicross defines "CANICROSS" similar to the International Federation of Sled Dog Sports: the sport of cross country trail running with dogs. Competitors run open-air courses over natural terrain such as dirt or grass. There for any runs must be done on a NON-PAVED surface.
*North American Canicross is in no way affiliated with, authorized by, maintained by,
sponsored by or endorsed by any federation or organization mentioned or in existence
at this time.
We understand that Canicross races are very limited in the United States! Thats why we developed the NACC Program. We recommend emailing Race Directors to see if they allow dogs to participate in your local races.
